Guide

WhatsApp is where testimonials actually get answered

Email asks for a testimonial get ignored because they arrive next to invoices and newsletters. WhatsApp does not: it is a conversation your client already has open, and a reply costs them one thumb. This guide covers the message to send, how a chat reply becomes a publishable testimonial, and where the WhatsApp Business rules draw the line on automation.

What a WhatsApp testimonial actually is

Nothing exotic: the same testimonial you would collect by form, except the ask travels through chat. Plausa builds the message for you and keeps the answer structured.

A pre-filled wa.me link

Plausa generates a wa.me link carrying your message and your collection link. You tap it, WhatsApp opens with the text already written, and you pick the client from your contacts.

A reply in the client's format

They can type two lines, record a voice note, or shoot a 30-second selfie video. All three end up as a testimonial you can publish; nothing has to be retyped.

A chat reply turned into a quote

Paste what they sent into the WhatsApp import in your dashboard. The AI polish removes typos and chat noise while keeping their words and meaning, and you always see the original next to the polished version.

One approved source

WhatsApp testimonials land in the same inbox as link, email and video submissions, with the same approval step before anything appears publicly.

The message that gets a reply

Most WhatsApp asks fail for the same three reasons: no context, no deadline, and too much work for the client. Keep yours to these ingredients.

  • Name the specific job you did together — vague asks get vague answers.
  • Ask one question, not five: what changed for them since working with you.
  • Give permission to be short: two sentences or a 30-second voice note.
  • Offer the format choice explicitly — text, voice or video, their call.
  • Say where it will be published, so consent is informed and on the record.
  • Send it within a week of delivery, while the result is still fresh.

Plausa ships an editable default message per language (FR, EN, ES) so the ask reads native to your client, and it is stored on the form — you never rewrite it per client.

Four ways the reply comes back

Whatever your client sends, there is a path to a publishable testimonial. Pick the one that matches how they answered.

They tap the link

The best case: they open your collection page from the chat and submit through the form, so the name, role, rating and consent are captured for you.

They reply in the chat

Copy their message into the WhatsApp import in your dashboard, add their name and role, and Plausa polishes and translates it into your working languages.

They send a voice note

Transcribe it, keep the phrasing, then import the text the same way. A spoken testimonial usually needs less editing than a written one — people are more specific out loud.

They send a video

Upload it as a video testimonial. From there it can be cut into short subtitled clips for social, or embedded on your wall with the thumbnail playing inline.

Whichever route they take, you approve before publishing, and unpublishing removes the testimonial from every widget and wall at once.

Where a WhatsApp ask beats the alternatives

Same testimonial, different channel. Pick the channel by how you already talk to the client.

Automation, consent and the WhatsApp rules

Be clear about what is possible: wa.me links are fully supported and need no approval, so you can send pre-filled requests today from your phone or desktop. Sending WhatsApp messages automatically, at scale, is different — it requires the official WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API), a verified business, and message templates approved by Meta in advance; unsolicited bulk messaging through unofficial gateways gets numbers banned. Plausa therefore keeps WhatsApp as a one-tap manual send, and automates the parts that are safe to automate: the message text, the collection link, the polish, the translation and the reminders on other channels. On consent, publishing a name, photo, voice or video needs explicit permission — a chat reply saying "yes, you can publish it" is valid proof, so keep it, and honour a withdrawal request by unpublishing.

Frequently asked

Do I need the WhatsApp Business API to collect testimonials?

No. The pre-filled wa.me link works with a normal WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business account. The API only becomes relevant if you want automated bulk sending, which brings template approval and verification requirements.

Can Plausa send the WhatsApp messages for me automatically?

Not automatically, by design. Plausa prepares the message and the link; you tap send from your own number. That keeps you inside Meta's rules and keeps the ask personal, which is what gets replies.

What if the client answers in the chat instead of using the link?

That is common. Import the reply from your dashboard: add their name and role, and the AI polishes the text and translates it while keeping the original visible for comparison.

Is a polished testimonial still their words?

Yes. Polishing fixes typos, chat shorthand and punctuation only. The original is always stored alongside, and you can publish the raw version instead.

How do I get consent over WhatsApp?

Say in the ask where the testimonial will appear and confirm their agreement in the chat. If they submit through the collection link, the consent is recorded with the submission.

Can WhatsApp testimonials show up in Google rich results?

The channel does not matter — once published on your public wall, testimonials carry Review structured data on an indexable URL, which makes them eligible for rich results.
